Tests Indicated For Men

Semen Analysis

This sample is either collected by masturbation or by intercourse (using a special condom). Samples should be collected after 3-5 days’ sexual abstinence and the delay between collection and delivery at the laboratory should be no longer than one hour.

The laboratory will evaluate the volume, viscosity and pH of the ejaculate, as well as the concentration, motility and morphology of spermatozoa, the biochemical qualities of seminal plasma and the immunological factor. The spermatozoon is also tested for its fertilizing capacity, which provides us with information about its behavior in relation to the egg (oocyte) and its capacity to penetrate it. If these tests result in a diagnosis of a male infertility factor, the examination will be completed with genetic and hormonal tests, and tests for infectious diseases.
